Bayer Radiology is developing next-generation CT (Computed Tomography) and CV (Cardiovascular) contrast injector systems that are mission-critical medical devices used to deliver contrast media during diagnostic scans.

I led UX efforts for both new systems with the goal of designing interfaces that improve usability, reduce cognitive load, and meet evolving regulatory standards. Our focus was on creating interfaces that are intuitive, efficient, and safe to use by radiologic technologists in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.

A key part of this project also involved efforts to unify the design system across both injector platforms, promoting consistency, scalability, and a seamless user experience across Bayer’s product ecosystem.

PROBLEM

CHALLENGE

Redesign the website to create an intuitive and cohesive user experience that aligns with UX best practices and industry standards, and drives user engagement and lead generation.

Intuitive, Efficient, and Safe Interfaces

Challenge

  • Design from the ground up for two new platforms: CT and CV injector systems

  • Align UX with FDA regulations and accessibility standards

  • Support complex medical workflows and edge cases

  • Ensure ease-of-use for both new and experienced technologists

  • Create a unified design system across products

I led the UX design process for the CV Scan Injector and the CT Scan Injector at Bayer Radiology, partnering with another UX designer to drive the end-to-end design strategy.

  • Leading design sprints and iterative prototyping cycles

  • Creating task flows, wireframes, hi-fidelity prototypes, and interactive simulations

  • Conducting user testing and internal usability reviews

  • Collaborating cross-functionally with human factors, engineering, software, and V&V teams

  • Presenting design decisions in cross-team design reviews

  • Working with the design systems team to unify visual and interaction patterns across platforms

  • Ensuring designs aligned with regulatory standards, accessibility guidelines, and clinician workflows

  • Interactive simulation for the entire workflow of both injectors that allowed hardware free testing

  • Reorganized workflow that improved safety and usability allowing technicians to perform tasks with ease in high pressure environment

  • UX/UI for Abnormal Stops such as system Teardown, Injection Stall and Over Pressure Behaviors

  • Screens for Service and Admin Section

  • Components for Pressure Graphs and other UI elements such as Buttons and Icons

  • Cross-product Design System, and Design Libraries specific to the CT & CV injector systems.
